After wearing such classic and neutral shades, I was craving something totally different on my nails. I wanted to wear something bright and in your face. What better polish choice to make than a China Glaze Neon? I am not the biggest fan of China Glaze, but they always amazing neons. This polish in particular is Red-y to Rave from this summer’s neon collection. The name of this polish is very misleading to me. There is no red in this polish whatsoever; it is a straight up neon orange. I had a really hard time getting this polish to photograph and none of my pictures are really true to color unfortunately. I have gotten a ton of compliments on this polish.

(Comparing this polish to red to show how it is not red and I just had to show off my Captain America keychain)

The finish of this is not my favorite. It is a crelly (meaning it is a hybrid of a creme and jelly finish). I would much more prefer for this polish to be a basic creme finish. The formula on this is a bit of a pain as well. I only had to go 2 coats of it, but this polish was so runny. You need to make sure you clean the brush and stem off really well before going to paint the nail or the polish will run everywhere. I am not someone who usually does a white base unless I am doing nail art, but I think this polish could benefit from a white base; it might help get rid of that crelly finish and make it appear more of like a creme and even more neon.

This polish is definitely a true neon. It is bright and in your face and I love that about this polish. Despite not being a huge fan of the finish and the not so perfect formula, this is a really beautiful polish and was definitely worth the little bit of extra effort to get it to apply nicely. Definitely recommend checking this out before it is too late to find it.

I have been on a bit of a Zoya kick lately. When I wear one, I remember how amazing the polishes are and just want to keep wearing them. This shade in particular is one of the first Zoya’s I purchased years ago and it is one of my favorite and most used polishes. Layla is a warm neon pink shade.

The formula on Layla is one of the best formulas I have ever come across for a neon polish. I only have 2 coats of it on. There is a bit of a visible nail line, but it is not really noticeable unless you are looking for it. I am pretty much one of those people who is against using a white nail polish base. Who has time for that? But if you are someone who does mind using a white base, I think this polish would pop even more. I have had this polish on for 3 days already and there is no chipping and only minor tip wear. I definitely recommend picking Layla up if you come across it in store or you can order off of their website as well. I love that Zoya pretty much keeps every single one of their polishes in their permanent line.

As I have previously mentioned, neon and bright nails has been an obsession for me lately. The China Glaze Electric Nights collection came out about a month ago and I picked up several of the polishes. This one here is called Go With The Flow. Glow With The Flow is not what I would describe as a neon pink, but it is most certainly a bright pink (it looks more neon in my pictures than it does in real life).

I was unsure of how I felt about this polish at first. It seems to have almost a crelly formula-meaning that it is a hybrid of an opaque cream polish and a sheer jelly polish. It almost looks squishy. I tend to be more of a cream formula person and tend to not like jelly formulas. I actually got several compliments while wearing this polish. The formula on this polish was great. It only took 2 coats and went on super smooth. The longer that I have this polish on, the more that I start to like it. Although the color would not seem to be very unique, the crelly finish of this polish makes it unique and very interesting on the nail. I have loved all of the colors that I have worn from this collection so far and I highly recommend this polish.

The past week or so has been pretty crazy for me at work and that is most certainly not changing next week. It’s really quick and easy for me to throw up a current nails post, but I have more thorough posts coming!

Currently, I am wearing Bottoms Up from China Glaze. It is a neon baby pink (think Nicki Minaj pink, which would make sense from the name). The formula on this is not bad for a neon. I have 3 coats on in these pictures. But that was my THIRD time painting my nails that night. Somehow I managed to keep messing my nails up. So I might have been able to do 2 coats if I had more patience. Overall, it is such a pretty neon pink and I do recommend it!

Current Nails

Today I have for you another current nails post. This time I am featuring a brand that I have yet to feature on the blog, but just might be my favorite nail polish brand. I am currently wearing Zoya’s Layla. Layla is actually my favorite neon pink polish, which is saying a lot because neon pinks are probably my favorite nail polish shade and I own several. This post can pretty much speak for any Zoya polish because every Zoya that I own (and I own quite a few) is absolutely fantastic; I have yet to find a polish that does not live up the high expectations that my first Zoya polish set.

This polish applies like an absolute dream. It glides over the nail and does not leave brush strokes. I have two shades on here, but could have gotten away with one. In fact, almost all of my Zoya’s can be worn with just one coat. The polish is very pigmented and opaque. It has the perfect consistency. It is not think or runny, just a perfect creamy consistency. The brush on this polish is also fantastic. I love that the handle is shorter—it works great for my smaller hands. The brush fans out beautifully over the nail. The width is just right so that you have control and the balance between flexibility and firmness is just right as well. The brush spreads out enough to give you control and so that you do not have polish spilling onto your finger.

Because this polish is a neon, you absolutely need a top coat to have a shiny finish on the nail. Neons dry to a satin to matte finish. I get great wear time out of Zoya’s compared to the rest of my polishes as well.

Zoya is actually a vegan nail polish line, so if that is something that is really important to you, you do have a high quality option in Zoya. Another thing about Zoya that I really like that is not that important to most people is that Zoya is actually based out of Cleveland, OH. Being that I live in Ohio, I love supporting a “local” company and find it really fun that such an amazing nail polish line is based out of the Midwest—not exactly where you think of when you are thinking of trendsetting and fashion. Zoya also names their polishes with names of women, which I also find to fun and interesting. I have suggested that they use my name several times 😛 Who wouldn’t want a polish named after them?!

I highly recommend checking Zoya out if you have not already. If you love neon pinks, Layla is a must own. Creamy, opaque, applies like a dream…what is there not to love about these polishes?

Today I am sharing with you one of my drugstore gems. The Spoiled by Wet n Wild nail polish line at CVS is just fantastic. I have quite a few polishes from the line and have already mentioned one in my Naughty Nautical post. Today the color I am sharing with you is probably my favorite and it is Uh, As If!

photo 1

Uh, As If! is a neon magenta pink with a slight gold shimmer. The color is one of my go to nail colors as any shade of pink is my favorite color….and the brighter the pink the better. This polish is so pigmented. I did two coats but could have gotten by with just one. There are seriously no issues when applying this polish. The formulation of these polishes is just right on. The polish just glides onto the nail. There is no dragging of the polish or pooling of it. Because this is a neon polish, you definitely need a good shiny topcoat to get rid of the satin-matte texture that the polish dries to. Of course, if you like the finish, you would not want to put a topcoat over it but I prefer a very shiny nail. The polish itself also dries quite quickly, which makes it an easy pick when I need a quick mani.

Now, let me talk about my favorite thing about this line of polishes—the brush. The brush on this is perfection for me. The slight taper really allows me to get along all of the edges of my nails without making a mess. I have to do much less cleanup when I use a polish from this line than I do with others. The brush is wider than most of the other brushes that each brand uses and it just fans out perfectly over the nail and allows me to fully and evenly coat in the nail in just 2-3 swipes. It picks up just the right amount of polish and I do not have to spend forever wiping excess off the brush before I paint my nail.

This line of polishes can only be found at CVS and sells for $1.99!! I discovered these polishes when they came out when I was in college and they were usually a little treat for myself. And at $1.99, you can afford to treat yourself a little more often than usual. The quality of these polishes is just phenomenal and I highly recommend not only this color, but that you pick up some other polishes from this line.
