MAC Pinch O’ Peaches Review

Recently I feel like I have been in a bit of a rut with blushes. I keep wearing either Urban Decay Obsessed or NARS Orgasm and that is pretty much it. I have so many blushes and I just cannot seem to stop wearing those two. I also have a double sided MAC palette that has an eyeshadow insert on one side and a blush insert on the other. Currently, the eye shadow side is full but the blush side only had 2 blushes in it. I obviously want to fill that side with blushes but have had a hard time decided what blushes I want. Then the other day, I was reading Temptalia and she reviewed MAC’s Pinch O Peach blush. I remembered seeing other youtuber’s talk about this blush but I am pretty sure when I went to get it, I couldn’t find it. So as soon as I read Temptalia’s post, I went to MAC’s website and ordered the blush.

As far as the color goes, I don’t see very much peach in it. It comes across more pink to me. It is a nice, soft pink that adds just a pop of color to the cheeks. It is actually very similar to Urban Decay’s Obsessed, but when you put the two side by side, you can see that Pinch O Peach is more warm toned and Obsessed is definitely cool toned. I was surprised by how soft the texture of Pinch O Peach is. That is one of the reasons as to why I have had a hard time finding blushes to fill the palette. I feel like a lot of MAC blushes are pressed really hard in the pan and it can be hard to pick product up and then it doesn’t blend very well. That is so thankfully not the case with Pinch O Peach. It is soft, pigmented, and blends so nicely.

I could not be happier that I picked this blush up. I love the shade and the formula is fantastic. I definitely recommend giving this blush a try if you are looking for a shade like this. As far as filling my palette goes, I don’t want to depot Lightsweep or the other MAC blush I have, which is Full of Joy. I almost destroyed the two blushes that I depotted to put in the palette and don’t want to risk it happening with those two. Props to those people who can depot without any issues because I am definitely not one of those people. What other MAC blushes would you recommend to me as I still have 3 spots open?

Bella Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

August has been all about lip products for me. Today is no exception, but unfortunately, I am sharing one of the worst products that I have ever tried. I received a sample size of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade 13 Bella. The shade is so perfect for me. It is a gorgeous hot pink. I was so excited to try it because I have heard a lot of people rave about this formula, but sadly, I have absolutely no idea what people like about these.

I applied this the other morning as I was running out the door before work. I got in the car and looked in the rear view mirror, and could not believe how horrible my lips looked. The formula is so thick, especially for a liquid lipstick. It felt like I was applying paste to my lips. I did enjoy the applicator though. It is not a traditional doe foot as it is flat with a slight curve at the tip. It took a bit of time to get the product evenly on the lips, but if the product worked out for me, the application time wouldn’t be a deal breaker. But seriously, less than 2 minutes after applying this, it had set down to its matte finish and it was dry and balled up and crusty on my lips. I was horrified when I looked in the rear view mirror. I grabbed a napkin out of my glove box and literally scrubbed this off my lips. Because it is a liquid lipstick, it was not easy to remove at all. Normally I would have just waited until I got to work but I was planning on stopping in Panera for breakfast before and absolutely did not want to be seen in this lipstick. After several minutes of scrubbing, I finally had this product off of my lips.

I absolutely do not recommend this product. For those of you that have tried this and really liked it, was mine just a bad batch? Is it this color maybe? This experience was so awful that I don’t even want to try another shade and see if it is any better.

Current Nails

The last time I showed a Deborah Lippmann polish, I mentioned that I tend to only buy Deborah Lippmann polishes when they are on clearance. On a recent trip to my JC Penney Sephora, I found some more mail polish on clearance and stumbled across Chantilly Lace. I most certainly would not have paid full price for this polish but I only paid $3.99 for it! Chantilly Lace is a pretty basic polish that can be found in just about any brand, so it would not have been worth almost $20, but at $3.99, this polish is a steal.

Chantilly Lace is a very cool toned, light baby pink polish with a slight, brighter pink duochrome running through it. It is a sheer formula polish. Because it is sheer, I did do 3 coats of the polish for it to be even on the nail. I really could have used a 4th coat because it was still streaky on a couple of my nails, but it is not really noticeable unless you are looking. The polish formula is very easy to work with; it is not too thick or too thin and that definitely helps with a sheer polish.

I am undecided on how I feel about this polish. It is definitely pretty, but I don’t know that I like it on me. It will probably take me a couple more wears to make up my mind on the polish, but that definitely makes me happy that I found it on clearance.

I have been on a bit of a Zoya kick lately. When I wear one, I remember how amazing the polishes are and just want to keep wearing them. This shade in particular is one of the first Zoya’s I purchased years ago and it is one of my favorite and most used polishes. Layla is a warm neon pink shade.

The formula on Layla is one of the best formulas I have ever come across for a neon polish. I only have 2 coats of it on. There is a bit of a visible nail line, but it is not really noticeable unless you are looking for it. I am pretty much one of those people who is against using a white nail polish base. Who has time for that? But if you are someone who does mind using a white base, I think this polish would pop even more. I have had this polish on for 3 days already and there is no chipping and only minor tip wear. I definitely recommend picking Layla up if you come across it in store or you can order off of their website as well. I love that Zoya pretty much keeps every single one of their polishes in their permanent line.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick Review

Most of the reviews that I do on here are pretty positive. It isn’t often that I run into a product that I am not a fan of. But sadly, these products did not work out for me at all. There are some really good things about this product, but the one downside to them is big enough to make me return them. I picked up the shades Unicorn and Pure Hollywood. Unicorn was the shade that I was really lusting after and I picked up Pure Hollywood because one can never have too many good nudes. Honestly, I have not tried Pure Hollywood on yet because I knew after wearing Unicorn that these were not the products for me.

Unicorn is a very blue based pink that is almost purple. These types of shades are my absolute favorite to wear. When I saw that Unicorn was being released in their summer collection, I knew this would be the shade that I would try out in the liquid lipstick formula. The product is super pigmented and goes on very well. I like the applicator and I feel like I get really nice precision when applying with it. The formula is easy to apply. It isn’t super liquidy; its almost mousse like, so it goes on very evenly. The formula dries down very quickly to a matte finish. One major upside to this product is that it does not transfer whatsoever. I could drink and eat and this bad boy would still stay on. But that, my friends, is what leads me to its major downside.

IMG_6736

The product gets so dry on the lips only after wearing it for a couple of hours. You know that nasty little crust like look you get from wearing a matte that is basically dried out on the lips? That absolutely happens with this and I feel like it happens rather quickly compared to other liquid lipsticks that I have tried. It was only on for maybe 2 hours before I noticed this happening. That in turn, makes this a very high maintenance lip color. You need to be able to check your lips rather frequently to know WHEN TO TAKE IT OFF and reapply. This is not a product that once it has reached this dried out state that is good to then put another fresh layer on. It is best to take off what you have on and reapply. This is such a big con for me that I will not be hanging on to these. Sorry to the nice lady at Macy’s who went on a hunt to find the Unicorn’s that it said were in stock that she could not find.

I feel like in all of the Instagram photos and Youtube videos that you see of these, they look so fantastic on the lips. And that is true; they apply incredibly well and do look beautiful when they are freshly applied. But I don’t know that I have actually heard anyone or seen anyone talk about how these wear or say that they are drying at all. I have several of the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks and do not have the same dry and crusty issue that I get with these Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks and it takes the Too Faced quite a while to set into that matte state. If you are someone who loves matte lips, you might be able to make this product work for you or you might not even have the issues that I have. But these sadly did not work out for me. The Anastasia Lip Glosses are absolutely amazing though. I highly recommend those. If you are interested in the liquid lipsticks, I would test one out before purchasing to see if they are right for you.

Current Nails

Today I am sharing with another nail polish of the day. And when I say nail polish of the day, I mean this nail polish only lasted on my nail for one day! As you can see in the picture, which was taken a few hours after I painted my nails, you can see that there is already quite a bit of wear on my nails. Essie Haute in the Heat is the culprit this time.

Haute in the Heat is a raspberry, magenta red color and the formula is a crelly-more jelly like than a true cream. This polish came out with the Essie 2014 summer collection. A lot of people complained that this collection wasn’t really summer like but this shade invoked a certain feeling for me, which is a little odd for me to say. I have never really looked at a polish on my nails before and pictured a scenery that the polish made me thing of. This polish makes me think being in the hot, humid, tropical weather. The name suits the polish very well. Despite the shade being very gorgeous, I have already alluded to this polish formula not being the best. It only took 2 coats to build it up to opacity, but something about this polish made it not wear well at all. It was totally beat up by the end of the day and I was ready to take it off. I will definitely give this polish another try and see if maybe I did something that caused it to chip and wear down so quickly, but I think this polish is probably pretty dupeable and you could find one with a better formula.

Current Nails

Today I am sharing an older polish with you, but it is one of my all time favorite nail polishes. This came out in an OPI pink collection a few years ago and I have been in love with it ever since. This beautiful pink polish is Be A Dahlia Won’t you?

Be A Dahlia Won’t You is a gorgeous magenta, hot pink shade with a ton of shimmer so that it looks foiled. It just sparkles and glows on the nails in the sunlight. This polish is totally opaque in 3 coats, but I feel like the coats dried pretty quickly. This polish also does not show a lot of brushstrokes like a polish of this finish might tend to do.

This a wonderfully unique polish and if you come across it somehow, definitely pick it up. It is a go-to for me and I am impressed with it every time I paint my nails with it.

Bound Colourpop Lippie Stix Review

Today I have another one of the Colourpop Lippie Stix to share with you. Bound is the only glossy formulation of the lippie stix that I have. When researching what shades I wanted to purchase, the glossy formulation was the one that had the most negative response. A lot of what I read was that it clings to and highlights any dryness, lines, or any other issues that you have going on with the lips. So I chose not to purchase any in my first order, but after really like what I had originally purchased, I added Bound to the order and I am quite happy that I did.

The glossy finish is exactly what it implies. It looks exactly like you have applied a lipgloss over your lipstick. It has the pigmentation of a lipstick but the finish of a creamy lipgloss. My lips were not particularly dry at the time, but I did not think it was the worst product for clinging to lip issues that I have tried. I feel like the Pepper lippie stix actually accentuated lip issues more than Bound did. Bound appeared more pink than nude on me. It is a great color to pair with a smokey eye look but it is not so nude that you cannot wear it every day either.

I recommend picking Bound up if you are interested in these types of shades. I love that it is so glossy without actually putting a gloss on top of the lipstick. It is everything in one, which makes it super easy to throw on and go and touch up with throughout the day. I did not find the formula to be particularly problematic on myself, but others have, so that is something to keep in mind if you are undecided on picking this up or not.

14 Days of Makeup Favorites Challenge-Day 12 Favorite Lipgloss

Lipgloss used to be one of my favorite categories of makeup and I owned a ton of lipglosses and hardly no lipsticks. In recent years, that has definitely flipped and I love lipstick way more than lipglosses. I hardly purchase lipgloss these days because I prefer something that is more long wearing and more pigmented on my lips. With that being said, the lipglosses that I do have these days are wonderful lipglosses and I love having them in my collection. When it comes to picking favorites, there is one that comes to mind and it was purchased at the same time I purchased my favorite lipstick. Sadly, it was limited edition as well and I have yet to see MAC repromote it. My favorite lipgloss is Culture Clash.

Culture Clash is a wonderful pink that has a ton of silver glitter in it. It is in the Lip Glass formulation of MAC lipsticks. A lot of people find this formulation to be really sticky, but the texture of it does not bother me at all. The stickiness of the gloss is what allows it to be long wearing. You can also feel the glitter on your lips, but it isn’t that super gritty, uncomfortable feel that you can get when you feel the glitter in the gloss. It is not totally sheer and it is not super pigmented either. I can wear this on its own and get a wash of pink on my lips, but it is really pretty when put on top of pink lipsticks. Sadly, my tube of Culture Clash is almost empty and it will be time for me to move on from my favorite lip gloss. Hopefully MAC will repromote it soon and I will be able to once again have it in my collection.

14 Days of Makeup Favorites Challenge-Day 11 Favorite Lipstick

If there is one beauty related thing that I am known for, it is my lips. People at work are always commenting on my shade choices because I am always taking risks and wearing colors on my lips. I love trying out all lip products and find that people are always telling me that they wish they could pull off what I am wearing. While I love experimenting with color, my favorite all time lipstick is a pretty basic pink. VIva Glam GaGa is my all time favorite. I so badly wish that it was not discontinued and that I would have known how irreplaceable it was going to be.

^Viva Glam GaGa is the lipstick swatch on the bottom. You can see it compared to Saint Germain (middle swatch) and Pink Nouveau (top swatch). I always say that GaGa is the color you would get if Saint Germain and Pink Nouveau had a baby.

Viva Glam GaGa is a cool toned, baby pink. It is in the lustre range of MAC lipsticks, so it is not super opaque and it gives a nice shine to the lips. Unlike other lustres though, you can build the color up to a good opacity. This shade for me is a go to lip color for me. It goes very well with my skin tone, eyes, and hair color and pairs so well with the type of eye looks that I usually do. This is another product that seems like it would be easily dupeable but I still have yet to find anything that I think mimics this lipstick.

Dear MAC, please bring this lipstick back!!! I need more of it in my life! Sorry to show a lipstick that you can no longer get, but I had to truly show what my favorite lipstick is. Do you know of any good dupes for this lipstick that I might not have come across yet? What is your favorite lipstick?
